Hanna Paulsberg Concept – Norway Hanna Paulsberg Concept consists of four upcoming musicians who have studied at the Jazz Conservatory in Trondheim. The group was formed early 2010, and is greatly inspired by Wayne Shorter Quartet's energetic and melodic interplay. Eventually the band has, through Paulsberg's original compositions, developed its own expression with playful interaction and strong melodies. Hanna has made her mark as a musician at a young age, playing with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra as one among several projects.
The trio consist of a graduate and two existing students of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Johan Christoffersson is despite his young age a remarkable musician. From a base etched in 60s jazz, he embarks on a musical journey, in search of his own evasive limitations. With him on his journey are his equally daring and skilful companions - Petter Olofsson on bass and Konrad Agnas behind the drums. Together, they work tirelessly hard to establish themselves as representatives of the new generation of jazz musicians and can be found playing at venues in and around Sweden.
The Finnish YNJC representative Mopo saw the daylight in the fall of 2009, when the musicians brainstormed as a result of a bar-fight.
Mopo ("a moped") accelerates easily from zero to speed of light, but mostly the trio steps on the gas for a hilarious joyride in the countryside. The trio draws their inspiration from free jazz, afro funk, 80s punk and the Finnish nature. Each composition is born in the magic of the moment and Mopo's intense performances have stolen the hearts of their audiences all over the Helsinki jazz club scene.
Skver was formed in 2008 and has worked together only periodically since, partially since half of the members are now studying music outside of Iceland. Skver performed at The Reykjavik Jazzfestival in 2008 and 2009. In 2010 they released their first CD, recieving good response. Skver’s musical approach mixes jazz with influences from the worlds of pop and rock.
The Danish “Young Jazz 2011” winners, Interfoam, is an instrumental band that moves through different genres, such as: punk, trash, and jazz. Despite the regular instrumentation, sax, trumpet, drums, and bass/tuba, the four members create a massive, innovative, and energetic sound, which challenges the listener, and hits him/her like a hammer in the face. On stage, Interfoam shows a high level of interaction, visuel expression, and musicality.
